The Edge of the Broken Moon
Fourteen-year-old Sonya unexpectedly learns that her mother lied to her about her father's death for many years, and forbade him to communicate with her daughters. Unable to forgive such a betrayal, she runs away from home. Mother and older sister Sasha find Sonya at their old dacha, where no one has visited for many years. Three women are forced to finally talk through all the problems, grievances and fears that have been so carefully hushed up for years. This begins the long journey of restoring family ties.

The film reflects on the last fifty years of the history of the country from a present standpoint. 1989: 64th and last year of the Showa era. A girl is kidnapped and killed. The unsolved case is called Case 64 ('rokuyon'). 2002: Yoshinobu Mikami, who was the detective in charge of the Case 64, moves as a Public Relations Officer in the Police Affairs Department. His relation with the reporters is conflicted and his own daughter is missing. The statute of limitations for the Case 64 will expire in one year. Then a kidnapping case, similar to the Case 64, takes place. The rift between the criminal investigation department and police administration department deepens. Mikami challenges the case as a public relations secretary.

Viola moves toward the camera/viewer, pausing every few steps to ring a bell, at which point he is momentarily thrust back to his starting place, and then advanced again. Finally reaching his destination, he is taken through all of the previous stages in a single instant and returned to the source of his journey.
