Radio Parade of 1935

One of the first screen outings for Will Hay. Hay plays the Director General of the National Broadcasting Group (NBG) who hides away in his office unaware that the general feeling about his programming is that it is too high-brow and the public are not happy. However, when he discovers this he decides to take action and promotes Jimmy, his Head of the Complaints Department, to Programme Director. Jimmy decides that a series of variety spectaculars are what the public want and sets about hiring the acts. But obstacles are put in his way and he discovers that the NBG has its own cluster of wannabe variety stars.

Sadness

Based on photographer William Yang's one man stage show, "Sadness" chronicles two diverging narratives through the use of slide photography, oral history and stylised recreation. One story follows Yang's pilgrimage into the heart of the North Queensland sugar cane fields as he investigates the murder of his uncle Fang Yuen. The other is a series of moving portraits of the many friends and lovers Yang has lost to AIDS. In the late 1970s, when the question of making a four-wheel drive rally car was raised, Audi engineers contacted FIA to consult on homologation issues. At that time, this technology was banned, and no one raised the problem of making such a car. At the time, the FIA saw no problem in authorizing the little whim, leaving the Germans to build their own toy. Following the publication of the 1979 FIA Yearbook, which lifted the ban on all-wheel drive, Audi went ahead with its design for the revolutionary quattro. Lots of people expected the quattro to look like a Jeep. Many laughed but then there was silence. Audi went ahead with its quattro, the car that will change the face of rallying forever. It was the birth of a legend that captured the imagination and brought out fans in their tens of thousands. The future had arrived.
