The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2016 (August 5–27, 2016) took place on the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle, Scotland, as part of the annual Edinburgh Festival. This year’s theme, “Tunes of Glory,” marked multiple anniversaries: Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday, the centenary of the Battle of Jutland, and the Great Arab Revolt, and featured narratives woven through military music and ceremony. Over 25 performances featured more than 1,200 participants from over 20 countries, including 250 pipers and drummers, five British military bands, and international contingents such as the Royal Jordanian Armed Forces Band and the Norwegian King’s Guard.
