Lina, a graceful schoolgirl, has an affair against her father's will with Álvaro, a young bohemian who squanders his fortune. They decide to flee from the father's vigilance, but at the train station a wounded beggar warns Lina about the grave mistake she is making. Álvaro bandages her wound with a handkerchief on which his initials are inscribed and Lina gratefully gives her her jewelry and in turn informs Álvaro of her decision not to continue with this adventure.
