The Frozen North

For more than 30 years a man by the name of Dick Proenneke lived alone in the Alaskan Bush. His only neighbors were the wolves and grizzly bears and his only transportation was his canoe and a good set of legs. Through the years, Dick kept written journals of daily life at Twin Lakes but would also document much of his adventure on film with his 16 mms Bolex camera. The Frozen North is Dick's own filmed account of his life alone in this "One Man's Wilderness", produced from original footage not included in "Alone in the Wilderness" or "Alaska Silence & Solitude".

Jia Ying, a sales manager of real estate, is mean and indifferent, still remains single. She has never expected something like this would have happened to her. After her customers were gone, Jia found that she has left her personal phone at the model room. As she just stepped into the elevator, a horrid thundering comes, and the next thing she knew, she was waked from the dark, trapped among the destroyed elevator, and all she got was a cracked work phone, a lighter and a handbag. Jia managed to recover the phone and called for help, while the signal was fitful, and she cannot even remember her bes-tie or relative's number. The destroyed elevator fell again, iron stabbed into her thigh and caused badly bleeding. Jia kept trying on dialing, without the expectation to find a hidden conspiracy, as well as a bloody monster lurked deep in the dark.

During a lecture on the nature of love, he notices Magda, a socially engaged journalist who has her own radio talk-show. They start dating. Jacus, who shares a dorm room with Adrian, is hopelessly in love with Wasyl. Unable to deal with his unrequited love, Jacus is driven to psychosis. Adrian’s sister Wiesia is soon to be married to Szymon. They are looking for a flat together. When Adrian drops by for a visit, he realizes that Szymon is physically abusing his sister. Wiesia, however, is in denial.

Semsettin Aga and Behram Aga, the owners of the surrounding villages, keep the villagers entertained. The villagers then decide to invade the fields. Dizzy is a perennial student living in a small double room in a hostel. He never seems to study, but spends his time sleeping, watching TV, and drinking.
