Travelling Fields

In my film works the main focus is on impermanence, transience, and ideas of change, shifts and “repositioning”. Landscape and architecture that appear to be solid and permanent is experienced unstable and disorienting. In travelling fields I am particularly interested in the idea of geography and how it can be examined and visually reworked in the dimension of altered time and filmic space. In this work I continue to work with shifts in perspective and working with the specific qualities it produces in the image. These qualities are results of certain ways of framing and the parallax movements produced by the travelling camera. It includes architectural elements and different ground surfaces in the Murmansk region, Kola Peninsula, Russia.

Object: Alimony
Ruth Butler, a clerk in an emporium, marries Jimmy Rutledge and thereby greatly displeases his mother, the owner of the emporium, because of Ruth's lowly origins. Renaud Graham, one of Mrs. Rutledge's friends, becomes interested in Ruth, forces his way into her apartment, and attempts to make violent love to her. Jimmy walks in on their embrace and, suspecting the worst, leaves Ruth. In the family way, Ruth finds refuge in a boardinghouse where she meets Al Bryant, an aspiring writer. Ruth tells Al her life story, and he makes it into a bestselling novel and then into a play. Jimmy sees the play and comes to his senses, winning Ruth's forgiveness.
Envisage
Follow a normal day in the life of three abnormal people to see what it's like to walk in another person's shoes for a day. Shot entirely in subjective camera, the audience will experience a day in the life of these three characters by hearing their internal monologue, dialog, and by seeing what they see as they go about their daily business. Since the movie is all about perception, all three characters lives intertwine in a scene that each character perceives completely different, leaving the audience to decide for themselves what really happened on this normal day. Each characters lives twist and turn as the movie progresses into a fun, yet different, cinematic adventure.
RED
Set in the Cold War era of the 1950's, Relations between the United States and Russia are tense. Senator Joseph McCarthy has many Americans convinced that the Communists have infiltrated society. Paranoia runs rampant, as decent Americans lose their jobs on suspicion alone. Floyd Woods served as one of the FBl's top Special Agents until he was accused of having Communist sympathies. Floyd lost his job despite lack of evidence to support these claims. He now works as a small time insurance investigator, who's flown into the small town of Sherrill, NY to investigate a life insurance claim, only to find himself distracted by the locals' odd behavior.
