But as we struggle to get ourselves out in the midst of crowd, we then realise that more does not always mean merrier; sometimes it only escalates the loneliness, and all the noise around us cannot beat the loud sound of silence inside our head.

Ruth Butler, a clerk in an emporium, marries Jimmy Rutledge and thereby greatly displeases his mother, the owner of the emporium, because of Ruth's lowly origins. Jean-Louis is an naive, amiable orphan who spent his life with his elderly and very strict grandfather. Jean-Louis was a 25-year old virgin when a free-spirited young Parisian woman was temporarily stranded in his village after a bus broke down.
