Utopia Girls

Every day in Finland alone, two people commit suicide. Thousands of people are affected by suicide yearly. Once I Dreamt of Life is a feature length documentary film about suicide. It’s an account about one’s personal relation to suicide, but also studies suicide as social phenomena: The motives, warning signs & consequences. The film follows the journey of a young man, an animated character based on a real person, on his path towards suicide. The journey is described by people who’ve had encounters with suicide – parents who lost their child, young adults who considered or even tried committing suicide. When linked together, these experiences offer a collage of our perception of suicide. They tell about how people cope with the past and find a reason to go on with their lives. The intention is not to romanticize suicide or judge. It encourages people to talk about painful and difficult experiences and reminds us how important it is to be heard.

Three Grains of Coarse Salt

But there is no trace of the father who has disappeared in an early morning. A dead body is found, but none of the sisters are going to identify the body due to the hatred rooted in their hearts. There is a dark secret in the family, but no one intends to talk about it.
TV Party
From 1978 to 1982, Glenn O'Brien hosted a New York city public access cable TV show called TV Party. Co-hosted by Chris Stein, from Blondie, and directed by filmmaker Amos Poe, the hour long show took television where it had never gone before: to the edge of civility and "sub-realism" as Glenn would put it. Walter Steding and his TV Party "Orchestra" provided a musical accompaniment to the madness at hand, and many artists and musicians, from The Clash, Nile Rodgers, Jean-Michel Basquiat, David Bryne and Arto Lindsey were regular guests. It was the cocktail party that could be a political party. With 80 hours of disintegrating 3/4 inch videotape as a starting point, we tracked down the trend setting participants still living today and found out what they remember of the period and how the show influenced their lives. This, combined with clips from the orginal show, became the documentary "TV Party.

Summer 1945 in Germany. In Nordstrand, a peninsula on the North Sea coast, the British army of occupation has set up its central administration in a carefully cordoned-off base cut off from the mainland. Gesa works in the military base's laundry with other German women. To find Gesa secretly at night in the dunes, Friedrich is not afraid to swim across the inlet. But the young woman falls in love with Simon, a British officer of German origin. She soon decides to tell Friedrich everything, but the dramatic events of that night prevent her from doing so...
