Sonic Youth: Koncertas Stan Brakhage Prisiminimui (April 12, 2003)

Filmed April 12, 2003 at a benefit concert held at and for The Anthology Film Archives, the international center for the preservation, study, and exhibition of avant-garde and independent cinema. In addition to screening films for the public, AFA houses a film museum, research library and art gallery. The event, which raised money for the Archives and celebrated the life and work of avant-garde film maker Stan Brakhage, featured Sonic Youth providing an improvised instrumental collaboration with silent Brakhage’s films. The band performed with drummer/percussionist Tim Barnes (Essex Green, Jukeboxer, Silver Jews).

Reflection

Reflection is a short film that reflects how others see us in relation to who we actually are, and that nobody is or ever will be perfect in others' eyes. As Lamis closes her eyes she realizes that everything that happens in her head isn't true, and that she shouldn't compare herself to other people, and not everything we see is the truth.

I Am Iron Man

A documentary covering pre-production topics like suit design and construction, storyboards, animatics, and pre-viz, sets, working in the suit, casting, rehearsals, and preparation, and the start of the shoot. From there we look at performances, locations and production design, stunts, hardware and practical effects, and various sequence specifics. Finally, the program goes through post-production at Skywalker Ranch, the titles and a few visual elements, and wrapping up the flick.

Facing The Killer Volcano

After 200 years, the Fugen-Dake volcano awoke in 1991. Journalists, cameramen and scientists flocked to Mount Unzen to study the eruption. For some of them, it would be a fatal choice.

Stankowskis Millions

In 1991, the mood in East Germany is gloomy. Unemployment and poverty among the population in the GDR are high. Many people blame the Treuhand for the misery. Werner Stankowski, a trained computer scientist and computer specialist, is unable to find work despite hundreds of applications. Piotr arrives at the same time with his sister, Marta, whom he hardly remembers and does not recognize. The father called for Piotr and Marta because their Mother went missing. Family members who meet for the first time after many years begin to search together. The facts they discover about their mother make them re-define what kind of family they are.
