On 4 September Frederick Albert Cook (1865-1940) arrived in Copenhagen on the ship 'Hans Egede'. He received a hero's welcome as the first man to set foot on the North Pole. He was greeted by the king, and given an honorary doctorate at the University of Copenhagen. Only a few days later, however, his endeavour was questioned, and in December the University rejected Cook's documentation. Carl Th. Dreyer is seen as one of the journalists taking notes. (DFI)

Based on a 1956 television feature on Japan’s national network, NHK, this is one of Uchida’s rarest films. A socially conscious drama with a contemporary backdrop, Dotanba focuses on the attempts to rescue a group of trapped miners. The title is a figure of speech — (essentially “last minute” or “eleventh hour”) — that refers to a situation of peril. The film boasts a script co-written by Uchida and Akira Kurosawa’s frequent screenwriter, Shinobu Hashimoto, and stars Kurosawa’s frequent star Takashi Shimura.

"This piece, with the generic title Film, is a series of short videos built around one protocol: a snippet of news from a newspaper of the day, is rolled up and then placed on a black-inked surface. On making contact with the liquid, the roll opens and of Its own accord frees itself of the gesture that fashioned it. As it comes alive in this way, the sliver of paper reveals Its hitherto unexposed content; this unpredictable kinematics is evidence of the constant impermanence of news. Frimley Park Hospital
Frimley Park Hospital is a heartfelt story about family, resilience, and the importance of prioritizing health without delay. The film follows Rani and her brother Tom, who share a close bond. After returning to the UK from a Nepal holiday, Rani notices something deeply concerning about Tom: his skin and eyes have a yellowish tint, and he looks frail and exhausted. He's lost a staggering 15 kilograms in just a month and seems weaker by the day. Rani, alarmed and worried, insists on taking him to the Aldershot Health Centre to see a GP. The GP, recognizing the urgency of Tom's condition, immediately refers him to Frimley Park Hospital for further testing and treatment. Tom is admitted to the hospital for three weeks, where doctors diagnose him with a range of serious health conditions: jaundice, autoimmune hepatitis, gallstones, and an ulcer. The medical team informs Tom and Rani that his health is in a critical state, and his future is uncertain.
